The shawarma plate is for anyone who’s really in it for the meat. Instead of wrapping it in bread, we carve the chicken straight from the rotisserie onto the plate – complete with the crispy edges it gets while cooking in front of the heat.

Shawarma without bread

In the Arab world, this is often simply called a shawarma plate or sahn shawarma. It’s popular with anyone who wants to skip the bread or just see more of the meat. The rotisserie itself comes from Ottoman cooking; layer by layer, the marinated meat cooks until it’s nicely charred outside.

How to eat it

The best way is to mix it up on your fork: a piece of meat, some coleslaw, a slice of tomato or cucumber, and a dab of garlic sauce. The pickled peppers add acidity and a little heat, and the fries mop up the rest of the sauce.

How it compares with our other shawarma dishes

In the Shawarma Special, the meat is rolled in flatbread and toasted; in the shawarma sandwich with fries, it comes in a pressed wrap. The plate is the open version, without bread.

What goes with it

If there are two or more of you, start with muhammara or baba ganoush for dipping. A tabbouleh adds parsley and lemon as a fresh contrast. For company events and celebrations, we also include shawarma in our catering.
