Falafel Burger – vegetarian and filling

Falafel as a thick patty, sesame sauce instead of burger sauce: Arab street food meets the burger.

9,90 €vegetarian

A thick chickpea falafel patty, golden and crisp on the outside, herb-green and fragrant within. Fresh lettuce and crunchy pickles join a creamy tahini-yoghurt sauce whose nutty sesame note rounds out the soft, buttery brioche bun. A vegetarian composition, hearty and satisfying, that proves a burger needs no meat at all.

Falafel is one of the best-known dishes in Arabic cooking – usually as balls tucked into bread or served on a plate. For our falafel burger, we shape the mixture into a thick patty and put it in a brioche bun – a falafel first and a burger second.

Where falafel comes from

Nobody agrees on its origins. In Egypt it’s called ta’amiya and is traditionally made with fava beans. In the Levant – Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Jordan – chickpeas are the norm, as they are with us. It’s seasoned with fresh herbs, which give the inside its green colour.

Tahini, not ketchup

The sauce is what turns a snack into a burger. Tahini, or sesame paste, goes with every falafel in the Levant. Mixed with yoghurt, it becomes creamy and slightly tangy, and pairs nicely with the buttery bun.

Other ways to have falafel

As a main with fries, salad and three dips: the falafel plate. Something lighter: the falafel salad. And as a starter to share: falafel.

For mixed groups

Vegetarians rarely sit alone at our tables. Alongside the burger, try moutabal and ful medames – both from our cold starters. For the office or a party, we include vegetarian dishes in our catering.

FAQ

Good to know

Is the falafel burger vegetarian?

Yes. The patty is made from chickpeas and herbs, and the sauce from tahini and yoghurt. There’s no meat in it.

Is it vegan too?

No. The tahini sauce contains yoghurt, so the burger is vegetarian but not vegan.

Can I have falafel without the burger?

Yes: as a starter, as a falafel salad, and as a big falafel plate with three dips.

Is the falafel burger a good option for vegetarian guests at a catered event?

Falafel is part of our mezze buffet and our finger food platters. Vegetarian boxes are also available with the business lunch box.
