Knafeh – the warm finale

Crisp outside, soft and warm inside: almost every celebration at Dunya ends with knafeh – and plenty of ordinary evenings too.

9,90 €vegetarian

Our knafeh – delicate strands of pastry roasted to a golden crisp, filled with a soft, melting cheese and generously bathed in sweet sugar syrup laced with a whisper of rose water. Scattered with ground pistachios and crowned with cream and a cherry. Served warm with a small glass of tea – a seductive oriental finale poised between crisp and creamy.

Knafeh – Knafe on our menu, and often spelt kunafa – is one of those desserts Arab families love to argue about: who makes the best? Our answer is on the plate. Wafer-thin pastry threads are toasted until golden and filled with a softly melting cheese. Then comes a generous pour of sugar syrup with a hint of rose water.

How we serve knafeh

We sprinkle the knafeh with ground pistachios and top it with cream and a cherry. It’s served warm, with a small glass of tea on the side. That’s where the magic is: the crust is crisp, the cheese underneath is soft, and the syrup brings the two together. Let it go cold and you miss the best part – so dig in straight away.

After dinner, or just because

Knafeh is the perfect end to an evening of hummus and grilled dishes, but it’s just as good on its own in the afternoon with an Arabic tea. You’ll find it at our restaurant at H1 5 every day from 12 noon to 10 pm.

Knafeh for your celebration

At weddings, engagements and family parties, knafeh is often the moment everyone’s been waiting for. For occasions like these we offer our dessert station with knafeh, served warm, with halawet el jibn and Arabic tea. Find out more on our wedding catering page and in our catering overview.
