A classic named after Hamburg

The hamburger made its name in the US, but the name itself points back to the German city of Hamburg. For decades it has been at home all over the world – including Amman, Beirut and Dubai, where burgers and shawarma are often sold on the same street. We serve it alongside our Arabic dishes because it’s rare for everyone at a table to want the same thing.

What makes it work

The grill is what matters: the patty picks up a charred, savoury crust before it goes into the bun. The finely chopped onions stay fresh with a little bite, the gherkins add acidity and the burger sauce brings it all together.

How is it different from the cheeseburger?

Both have cheese. The Classic Beef Burger comes with finely chopped onions and a savoury burger sauce; the cheeseburger has caramelised onions, a creamy sauce and a sesame bun.

Does it come with fries?

The burger comes on its own. You can order fries or sweet potato fries separately from the finger food section.

Is there a version with two patties?

Yes, the Double Beef Burger. If you want two patties with cheese, go for the Double Cheese Burger.

Why does an Arabic restaurant serve burgers?
