New Year’s Eve buffet for your party

A New Year’s Eve party at home is great – until you realise you’ve spent half the night in the kitchen. With a buffet from us, the kitchen stays closed: we deliver Arabic food that’s easy to share, doesn’t need to be served to the minute and goes down well even with guests trying it for the first time.

What goes on a New Year’s Eve buffet

• Cold mezze to last all night: hummus, muhammara, baba ganoush, tabbouleh and fattoush with flatbread
• Finger food for standing guests: falafel, sambousek with cheese, sambousek with spinach and kibbeh
• Something hot for early in the evening: shish taouk, tikka skewers and Dunya kebab, with rice
• Something sweet: halawet el jibn or knafeh

Which parties it suits

• House or flat-share parties, when everyone should be able to help themselves standing up
• New Year’s Eve at the clubhouse with a larger group and a shared buffet
• End-of-year drinks at the office on the last working day, with finger food platters instead of a sit-down meal

How to plan it right

Cold mezze and finger food last well through a long night, while hot dishes are best eaten in the first half. If you’re not sure how much you need, just tell us the number of guests – we’ll work out the quantities for you.
